Running success at ABP Southampton Half Marathon and 10K

A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone who ran the ABP Southampton Half Marathon and 10k last Sunday, on behalf of our campaign for the Centre for Cancer Immunology.

ABP Half Marathon 16

Collectively our runners, made up of staff and students from all across the University, raised over £9,000, with money still rolling in.  This is a fantastic amount and really demonstrates how a team effort can make a big difference.

The campaign had a great presence at the event, with a stand run by a team of volunteers from the Office of Development and Alumni and our student community, engaging with runners and spectators, as well as walking into the crowds with donation buckets.  We are also very grateful to all the RAG volunteers that worked as milemakers, cheering on the half marathon runners down University Road.

There are some great photos from the event.  Visit the campaign’s facebook gallery to see who you can spot running for the campaign.

There’s still time to support our runners – you can find the various Just Giving pages here. All support and donations are very much appreciated.

“This is a great way of raising funds and an excellent way of showing how important this cause is.” Sir Christopher Snowden, Vice Chancellor.

“Congratulations to all involved. A great outcome on a cold day.” Ian Dunn, Chief Operating Officer.

“Many congratulations and a truly great effort for the Centre!” Professor Tim Elliott, Director for the Centre for Cancer Immunology, Interim Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and Professor of Experimental Oncology.
