Five undergraduate students recently represented the University at the UK-India Social Entrepreneurship in Education Network Conference (UKISEEN) in Chennai, India.
The student team worked alongside a team at IITM to design and lead a debate and a panel discussion, which they presented to educators and academics, as well as British Council India. Two of the students, Mauro and Andreas, were also formally recognised for their contributions to the debate and discussion.
The conference marked the launch of UKISEEN – a peer-led network of practitioners, academics and educators, which uses the latest in digital technology and social media to provide a platform for knowledge transfer and resource sharing, leading to the establishment of high quality social entrepreneurship teaching.
Dr Pathik Pathak, the University Director for Social Entrepreneurship and Director of the Social Impact Lab, said:
“The students were fantastic ambassadors for the University and showcased the quality, diversity and internationalisation of social entrepreneurship at Southampton.
“UKISEEN marks a landmark moment in co-operation between UK and Indian universities, not just in social entrepreneurship, but as a peer-led network which brings together staff and students through innovative online and offline platforms.
“Southampton is a founding member of the network, which speaks volumes for our leading international role in the promotion of social entrepreneurship in higher education.”
