Six University of Southampton STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students have been successful in gaining a place on the highly competitive Huawei ‘Seeds of the Future’ Programme 2016.
Huawei is one of the world’s most innovative companies and a leading telecoms solutions provider with comprehensive strengths delivering fixed-line, wireless and IP technologies.
They are passionate about the importance of science and innovation in delivering the products and services of tomorrow, and take seriously the role they play in fostering a new generation of talent in the UK.
The students will be travelling to China for a 4-week, all-expenses paid trip where they will firstly spend time in Beijing learning Mandarin and visiting multiple tourist attractions, before flying to Huawei’s HQ in Shenzhen to receive technical training from some of the finest professionals in the industry.
Since 2011, Huawei have provided over 100 UK undergraduates with the opportunity to learn about China and to experience working in Huawei’s dynamic global business HQ – an invaluable addition to any CV when looking for a job after graduation.
This is a great achievement for the students and the Careers & Employability Service, who help facilitate the programme.
Only 50 students from 19 universities across the UK and ROI were successful, with the UoS filling over 10% of the places.
Congratulations to the successful students – we look forward to hearing about their adventure when they return.
