The Year in Employment is a new placement programme being launched for eligible undergraduate students.

Applying for, and completing, a placement can be an exciting but daunting experience. We offer plenty of support throughout to help you get the most out of the opportunity.

While you are on placement, the Year in Employment Placements Team are available by telephone and email to offer advice and pastoral support. We will also conduct 3 scheduled checks with you during the year:

  • 2 weeks into your placement, we’ll contact you to see how you’re settling in
  • we’ll visit you at your workplace (if in the UK) to meet with you and your Placement Provider around 3 months into your placement
  • our final check-in will be over the phone/on Skype about 3 months before the end of your placement

In addition, as you remain enrolled as a student at the University, you will have access to your University email, the Library services, eduroam, BlackBoard, Enabling Services, the Students’ Union and the learning and training opportunities like Lynda.com and BOBnational.

Your faculty administration team will also keep you updated with all relevant communications.

If you’d like to discuss the support that you’ll be getting whilst on the Year in Employment, do get in contact at [email protected] or on (0)23 8059 3501.
