Get moving to beat exam stress

Whilst it’s well known that regular exercise has multiple health benefits – boosting your immune system to name just one – it’s easy to forget that physical activity also helps combat stress. In fact, exercise can reduce stress levels immediately which is great news for students at this busy time of year.SC_00.85

With exams upon us and stress levels on the rise, now is the perfect time to get exercising for a break from revision.

So what are you waiting for? Get started now with these easy ways to get exercising and therefore de-stressing on campus:

Walking and running

Taking a short revision break to go for a walk is one of the easiest stress busters and can help distract you from exam worries. Having a change of scenery and getting out in the fresh air can give fresh perspectives, and provides a pleasant outdoor break from revision. Moreover, simply walking from Highfield Campus to Avenue Campus and back, is almost 2 miles which is a great way to sneak in some exercise and avoid taking the bus.

Swimming

A dip in the pool is at the very least refreshing but is also another great way to reduce stress levels. With its extensive public swimming timetable which caters for even the busiest of students, the Jubilee Sports Centre is open to members and non-members (for a small fee).

Exercise classes on campus

Sport and Wellbeing offer a whole host of exercise classes to get involved in on a daily basis. With activities ranging from indoor cycling to Zumba and lots in-between, there is so much that you can get involved in.

Visit Sport and Wellbeing for more information on activity timetables and opening hours.
