The University of Southampton will host a free Higher Education Academy (HEA) workshop entitled ‘Innovations in pedagogies: Arts & Humanities’ on Thursday 23 June 2016, 10:30 – 15:30 in Building 65 (Avenue Campus), Room 2109.
The workshop, which is open to all HEA fellows, will be led by Dr Eleanor Quince and Dr Vanessa Mar-Molinero and supported by an academic team comprising Charlotte Medland, Carol Evans and others.
Through explorative case studies, the workshop will explore a range of innovations in pedagogy across a variety of arts and humanities disciplines including archaeology, English, film, history, languages, music and philosophy. Although case studies are subject-specific, they will be grouped thematically around a core innovative approach; highlighting their value for cross- / inter-disciplinary applications. These will include:
- Facilitating distance learning in arts and humanities subjects
- Developing transferable skills in the arts and humanities curriculum
- Collaborative peer engagement in the arts and humanities
- Simulations in the HE arts and humanities curriculum
- Authentic assessment in arts and humanities
