The University’s LifeLab, a project designed to improve the health of school pupils, and Professor Keith Godfrey, one of LifeLab’s creators, are to appear on the programme.

The episode, entitled ‘Why Are We Getting So Fat?’, will explore the rising rates of obesity in the UK.

Since the scheme began in 2008, more than 3,000 pupils aged between 11 and 18 from across Southampton and the surrounding area have taken part in LifeLab, which aims to reduce obesity by educating school pupils to make better choices about their health.

The University has previously conducted research into how obesity can be prevented, specifically focussing on how a mother’s health before and during pregnancy affects the future health of their offspring.

Shortly after it has first been broadcast, the programme will be available to watch here.
