The 8th Southampton Symposium on Self and Identity (SSSI) will be held on Thursday, 14 July 2016 from 13:30 – 18:45, and Friday, 15 July 2016 from 10:00 – 14:00. Both sessions will take place in the Shackleton Building (Highfield Campus), Room 3095.
Staff, postgraduate students and external delegates are warmly invited to book their place at the event.
The Centre for Research on Self and Identity (CRSI), Psychology Department, is delighted to welcome renowned historian Dr Ian Mortimer, who will give the keynote address entitled: ‘The History of the Self’. Most recently the author of the popular book ‘Human Race: 10 Centuries of Change on Earth’, Dr Mortimer will talk about how historical events have shaped self and identity as we know them today.
The theme of this year’s symposium is: ‘The Self as Sonata: The Exposition, Development, and Recapitulation of Classic Themes.’
