After all the debate and discussion, the day for voting is tomorrow and each of us has an important choice to make – whether to remain in, or to leave, the European Union.
The outcome of tomorrow’s vote will have a long-lasting impact on all our futures, whichever way it goes, but it is young people who will live with the consequences for the longest. This is a once-in-a-generation decision and we only get one opportunity to vote.
To help make sure you have the information you need on the voting process, below is a brief guide. You can also find out more at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.
- The polls are open from 07:00 until 22:00 tomorrow (Thursday, 23 June), so there’s plenty of time to visit your local polling station and have your say.
- Remember that you don’t need your polling card to vote. As long as you have registered to vote, you can still go to the polling station.
- Voting early could reduce the likelihood that you’ll have to queue or wait, so plan your time accordingly.
- If you’d like to review some information, as well as the thoughts and opinions of academics, politicians and commentators before you vote, the University’s Europe page and Views on Europe blog are available to view.
Whatever your view on Britain’s membership of the EU, I urge you to use your right to vote tomorrow.
