Centre for Cancer Immunology awareness week: meet the experts

An awareness week for the Centre for Cancer Immunology is taking place from Monday, 27 June – Friday, 1 July between 09:00 – 17:00 (each day) in the new entrance foyer at Southampton General Hospital.

The key objectives of the activity are to inform and engage staff and visitors, helping to bring to life the activity behind the construction site hoardings, the reason the Centre is being built and the world-leading research it will house. Attendees can chat to a campaign staff member, find out more about the life-saving science that’s being developed from one of our researchers and have a go at destroying hidden cancer cells in the interactive ‘Killer T Cell shooting game’.

Throughout the week there will be lunchtime ‘meet the expert’ sessions, enabling staff and visitors to pose questions to some of our most senior professors.  For the full ‘meet the expert’ schedule and more details about the activity, please click here.

In support of this week’s awareness activities, staff within the Faculty of Humanities will be selling raffle tickets in the Staff club, Highfield Campus, between 12:00 – 14:00 each day (Monday, 27 June – Friday, 1 July).

The team have gathered a fantastic range of prizes including signed Coldplay merchandise, £50 Ocado voucher and £50 Gunwharf Quays voucher. Monies raised by the raffle will benefit the new Centre. So far, donations from the University staff and student community have raised more than £30,000.
