Improvements to HR service delivery for the new academic year

To help the University achieve its vision and strategy HR has been exploring what ‘simply better’ service would look like.

Changes to the following key areas are being made from Monday, 4 July as part of our continuous improvement.

  • All general HR advice and guidance will be immediately accessible by contacting our new ‘Ask HR’ service. This will give the University access to more immediate and responsive generalist HR support – in person, by phone or over email.
  • Day to day interactions with HR will continue by raising a ticket online through ServiceNow, offering automated transactional services to improve service quality and effectiveness. The second phase of online HR requests will go live on 5 July.
  • Any managers requiring specific guidance and advice on employee relations will be assigned an Employee Relations specialist, who will provide dedicated casework support.
  • Deans and Directors will be assigned a dedicated HR Business Partner who will support with local people priorities to enable the University strategy.

Although these changes will be implemented on 4 July 2016, some are already in train to help maintain a seamless service for our customers. A rolling process of piloting and testing new ways of working will continue over the summer months, and feedback from our customers will enable us to keep improving our service.

The new HR organisation (illustrations are accessible via the links below) will be fully operational in October, ready for the start of the academic year.
