University of Southampton students have graduated in China for the second consecutive year from programmes offered through Dalian Polytechnic University (DPU) and the Winchester School of Art (WSA). The 52 graduates celebrated their success at a ceremony held on the campus of DPU.
Southampton’s Vice-President (Education), Professor Alex Neill, presided over the ceremony joined by DPU President Li Rongde and Vice-President Ren Wendong. This year’s ceremony was followed by a Fashion and Graphic Show presented by students at the Dalian International Conference Centre.
Thanks to a successful collaboration between WSA and DPU, students based at Dalian have the opportunity to study for a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design or Graphic Arts. The four-year programmes, which include English language and design modules, offer students an opportunity to transfer to the UK, or continue their studies in China.
DPU President Li Rongde said:
“All graduates of 2016 on the Joint Campus: You are now well prepared for your next step in your life’s journey. You have realized the dream you had 4 years ago. You have played a part in the achievements of our collaborative programmes. You have seen the efforts the two sides have made to establish high quality art and design programmes over the last four years. The international environment has helped you to become what you are at this moment: someone who will be awarded dual degrees from two prestigious universities. As President of Dalian Polytechnic University, I am proud and honoured to offer my congratulations to you.”
