President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Christopher Snowden will receive two honorary degrees this week in recognition of his distinguished engineering career and services to higher education.
Today, Tuesday 12 July, Sir Christopher will be made a Doctor of Science (Engineering) by the University of Leeds and tomorrow (13 July), the University of Surrey will make Sir Christopher a Doctor of University.
Commenting on the degrees, Sir Christopher Snowden said:
“It is a great honour to have my contributions recognised by the Universities of Leeds and Surrey. It was a privilege to work with the staff and students at these fine universities.”
Sir Christopher completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Leeds. His pioneering work on transistor designs was recognised by his election as a Fellow of the Royal Society and he was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Silver Medal in 2004 for his outstanding contributions to the UK microwave semiconductor industry. Sir Christopher has also made a significant contribution to the field of academia and was knighted in 2012 for services to engineering and to higher education.
