Professor Terence Langdon, Professor of Materials Science, Engineering and the Environment has been awarded two distinct honours in Russia.
In a special ceremony held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on 15 June, 2016, Professor Langdon was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University.
The degree was awarded in recognition of his research on the processing and properties of nanostructured metals. An interview conducted after the awards ceremony can be viewed here.
The second award was presented on 21 June by Rustem Mardanov, the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, during the annual scientific congress in Ufa.
The State Award of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Science and Engineering is awarded every two years for any aspect of science and engineering conducted by a group based primarily within the republic.
The 2015 State Award was given to a team consisting of three materials scientists working at Ufa State Aviation Technical University and Professor Terence Langdon of the University. The citation reads that the award was made for their collaborative research “on developments, study and applications of novel nanocrystalline materials.”
