This year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Awards celebrate our colleagues exceptional contributions in the areas of collegiality, quality, internationalisation and sustainability. This short series of articles will share what makes the teams and individual winners special.
Individual award – Ardel Richardson.
Ardel’s citation included:
Ardel joined the University in February 2015, as the Faculty Accountant based at the Winchester School of Art. What is different about Ardel, is that he uses opportunities to enquire about processes, discusses the needs of the parties involved and then considers how things can be improved for the common good. He is excellent at building links with other parts of the University and fostering a wider team ethos.
After the awards Ardel commented:
“Every action, even those that I consider small acts of support, can have a profound impact on those around me and might even transform someone’s day from one of struggle to a day of conquering a troublesome task.
“The award recognises and encourages us to see outside of our self imposed ‘cubicles’ and explore what more we can do for our stakeholders. Every individual I meet with, I try to think how I can transform our current relationship to one that benefits both parties, even if it’s as simple as including my contact details on the emails I send out, which makes me more accessible to internal and external clients.”
