The nomination for Louis included the words:

Louis’s award for Quality is for his ‘MySouthampton’ Open Day App. With a turn-around time of three months, Louis led the creation of the Open Day App from scratch.

Louis has shown tremendous tenacity and professionalism in the way he has taken personal responsibility for the success of the Open Day App. He met with the Open Day Team to determine their requirements and understand what was possible with this new and exciting technology.

Feedback from Open Day visitors has been extremely positive:

“I thought it was great, easy to use and allowed us to plan our day before hand with simplicity!”

“I found the Southampton Open Day App very helpful for the timings of subject talks and tours. I have no negatives about the App.”

“Great job UoS on laying on such a well organised Open Day. We enjoyed exploring the Highfield Campus with our son and I’m now thinking of becoming a mature student!”

“Really helpful for planning out my day and much easier to find my way around than other uni’s I’ve visited!”

Louis said of the award:

“With the hard work and dedication of staff from across a range of University departments, we were able to deliver an app that is a testament to the level of quality expected here at the University. We believe the app surpasses our competitors’ offerings and brings the ‘wow factor.’

“I am proud that the MySouthampton app is now a faithful companion for students from the first time they visit the University right up until their graduation ceremony.”

Quality is one of the four underlying principles central to the success of our strategy and will underpin our strategic activities. Quality: always striving to achieve the highest quality in everything we do.
