The optimised 2016/17 Fantasy Football squad selected by computer science

Millions of Fantasy Football Managers will be finalising their team selections today, ahead of the new Premier League season kicking-off tomorrow (13 August 2016).

A team from Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), Dr. Sarvapali (Gopal) Ramchurn together with postgraduate Tim Matthews, have created a predictive system that uses Bayesian Machine Learning techniques and a combinatorial optimisation algorithm to identify the strongest team, statistically.

The tool has been tested on player data from previous seasons and produced teams that would have consistently ranked in the top one per cent of the Fantasy Premier League.

The system continuously crunches through the numbers and new signings from the summer transfer window.  Click here to see the 15-man squad that the system recommends Fantasy Football Managers should pick to have a storming season.

Currently the service is free of charge but the team are seeking investment to develop a subscription based service enabling Fantasy Football Managers to make well informed decisions.

SUSSED will check how Gopal’s team have fared at the end of the season.
