The University completely withdrew from Clearing and Adjustment on Friday 19 August at midday, with the majority of courses closing to enquiries the night before.
Our strategy for confirmation and clearing this year has been to pursue quality and sustainability by ensuring the continued improvement of the student experience. In practice this has been delivered by carefully assessing and staying within the University’s capacity limits, whilst sustaining our high entry grades.
Thanks to a considerable amount of detailed planning and the flexibility and co-operation of colleagues across the University, we have been able to increase our institutional entry grades in both confirmation and clearing as well as maximising our teaching space without overcrowding.
Vice-President, Education, Professor Alex Neill said,
“I’m extremely grateful to all of my colleagues who have worked so hard to make a success of confirmation and clearing. This is a significant step toward delivering our objective of improving the student experience. We’re now working with colleagues throughout the University to ensure that we have everything in place so that our new students are made to feel as welcome as possible and comfortable with their new environment and educational challenges.”
