Celebrating a successful Open Day weekend

The University held its latest Open Day weekend from Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 September, attracting an impressive 15,783 combined registered visitors across the two days.

Although the weather didn’t quite behave, the enthusiasm of all the teaching staff, student ambassadors and professional services staff who took part more than made up for the gloom.

Fantastic displays were put up across all of our UK campuses, including (to name just a few!):

  • MA students’ projects on display at Winchester School of Art (WSA)
  • The 2016 Design Show at Boldrewood Innovation Campus
  • A wide variety of subject talks taking place at Avenue Campus
  • An amazing collection of fossils being showcased at the National Oceanographic Centre Southampton (NOCS)
  • A buzzing Red Brick area over at Highfield which featured numerous society stands set against the musical backdrop of Southampton University Radio Station (Surge)

The mood over on our Twitter account was hugely positive over the weekend, with prospective students taking the time to tweet some wonderful messages:

  • “Think I might have found where I want to live for 3 years #UoSOpenDay”
  • “The visit to @unisouthampton only made me more excited to apply! 1st choice I believe!”
  • “Loved @unisouthampton / The Business School…I think it could be ‘the one’ #openday #positive”

We’d like to extend a big thank you to all the staff and students who took part and helped make the weekend such a success.
