The demolition of Building 58a is now complete and the majority of activity next week will be taking place in the vicinity of Buildings 58 and 2, where excavation work continues, and on Salisbury Road, where the service diversion works are ongoing.

Please note if you are due to be on campus next weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October) that contractors will be undertaking some of the more disruptive activities on site. They will be working at the weekend in order to reduce the impact on campus users during weekdays. Activities taking place will include:

  • Removal of the link bridge connection to (the now demolished) Building 58a. Please note that there will be no access to the main link bridge between Buildings 58 and 2 while this work takes place.
  • Underground piles to be removed near to Buildings 58 and 2.
  • Preparatory work for connection to the district heating system will result in there being no hot water for showers in Building 42 (Students’ Union) from Friday 7 to Monday 10 October. We ask those undertaking sports in B42 that weekend to use the showers in the Jubilee Sports Centre (B18).

The bus layby next to the site is being taken out of use on Saturday 8 October to enable the construction of a pedestrian walkway from Salisbury Road to the bus interchange. Following the removal of the layby, the temporary fencing along this route will be replaced with permanent hoardings. There will be no change to the Uni-link bus exit route.
