The University features in the top 100 in the world amongst specific subject areas ranked by Times Higher Education for 2016-17.
Southampton is 54th amongst the world’s best for Computer Science, a new subject ranking for the THE this year. The ranking places the University 7th amongst UK universities listed and 19th in Europe.
The University also places 77th for Physical Sciences, placing 10th in the UK and 29th in Europe, and 92nd for Engineering and Technology, ranking 9th in the UK and 25th in Europe.
Like the main THE World Rankings, the publication’s rankings by subject are based on criteria encompassing Teaching, International Outlook, Research, Citations and Industry Income.
The subject rankings come just one week after the publication of the THE’s World Rankings which saw Southampton placed 121st in the world and 16th out of 91 UK institutions listed.
