The fourth lecture of our Health and Healthcare series will take place today, Wednesday 5 October at the Wellcome Collection, London from 17:15.
The event will focus on cancer research and aftercare, an area in which the University is conducting pioneering research, particularly in the field of Immunology. Our discoveries are moving from the laboratory into clinical trials, where they are already making a world of difference to people with cancer.
The lecture will include keynotes from:
- Professor Sir Bruce Ponder, Emeritus Professor of Oncology at the University of Cambridge and former director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute.
- Professor Peter Johnson, CBE, Professor of Medical Oncology within Medicine at the University of Southampton and Chief Clinician for Cancer Research UK.
- Professor Gillies McKenna, Professor of Radiation Oncology and Biology, University of Oxford.
The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by:
- Professor Tim Elliott, Professor of Experimental Oncology at the University of Southampton.
Professor Elliott will be joined by Charlotte Moss, Clinical trial patient and Professor Theresa Wiseman, Clinical Professor of Applied Health Research in Cancer Care, University of Southampton.
