On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September, all new undergraduate students were welcomed to Highfield Campus to celebrate their arrival at the University of Southampton.
Following on from the success of the previous years, the weekend provided students with a chance to meet support staff, collect and purchase tickets from Union Southampton, gain knowledge about the local area and transport links, and collect their ID card. There was also a shuttle bus ensuring our Winchester School of Art (WSA) students were able to take part in the event.
Organisation of the weekend involved staff from across the University, including Union Southampton, Student Services, Residential Services and representation from each Faculty.
Over the weekend the Welcome Team:
- Distributed 3,702 student ID cards
- Provided help and advice on Welcome Week activities, University facilities and the local area
- Introduced new students to our Enabling Services and Chaplaincy teams
- Answered 252 queries in the Student Services Centre
- Greeted 4,664 students and helped them settle into University accommodation
In addition, a whopping total of 10,534 individual Freshers’ tickets have been sold so far, and counting!
