The route to sustainable shipping discussion 12 October

The Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI), in collaboration with the University’s Fluid Structure Interactions group, are hosting a panel discussion exploring the challenges faced by the maritime industry on the route to becoming more sustainable.

Part of Southampton’s first Sustainability Week, which aims to promote continued engagement with sustainable practises, the event will take place on Wednesday 12 October from 18:00 – 20:30 in room 1125, Building 176L, Boldrewood Innovation Campus.

Panellists include:

  • Mr Motonobu (Moto) Tsuchiya, principal specialist for IMO/IACS, regulatory affairs for Lloyds Register.
  • Mr Tom Strang, Senior Vice President Maritime Affairs at Carnival Corporation.
  • Professor Dominic Hudson, Shell Professor of Ship Safety and Efficiency at the University.
  • Dr. Johanna Hjalmarsson, Informa Associate Professor in Maritime and Commercial Law for the University and a member of the Institute of Maritime Law.
  • Professor Ajit Shenoi (Panel Chair), Director of the SMMI and Engineering Professor of Lightweight Structures at the University.
