There are 28 scholars from 25 different countries.  One of the awards, the Chevening-Southampton Partnership Scholarship, was allocated by the University to Leonela Beltran Carrasquero from Venezuela to study a Masters in International Law.

The new scholars, along with awardees from 2015, were welcomed by Jon Inegbedion, Director of International Student Recruitment who said:

“Chevening Scholarships are incredibly competitive and are awarded to candidates who intend to become future leaders when they return to their home countries. We are delighted that once again so many scholars have chosen Southampton for their studies, and we hope they will have a challenging but rewarding year.”

Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s highly regarded scholarship scheme which funds international students to study a Masters programme in the UK. The fully-funded scholarships are open to students from over 160 countries worldwide.

The 2017 scholarship round is currently open for applications.  For further information, see our Chevening Scholarships webpage or contact the International Office.
