Sustainability in Action is the University’s annual cohort conference for the EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (CDT-SIS), held in conjunction with the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in Transport and the Environment.
The event allows students to showcase their work from across the three themes of Water, Energy and Transport via three sessions of talks and discussions. Poster presentations relevant to these research themes will also be available to view.

Keynote speaker
- Dr Sam Healy – Southampton alumnus, MICRS, Group Corporate Responsibility Director of ‘QinetiQ’, and a Director within the ‘Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability’.

- Professor Patrick James (University of Southampton)
- Dr Pete Shaw (University of Southampton)
Abstracts have been received from students at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. It is hoped that the connections made amongst the different university CDTs will lead to increased collaboration amongst university clusters in the future, benefitting students, universities, and the overall standards of research being undertaken.
The event will feature a lunchtime recruitment stall from current industry partners involved in research funding. Representatives include:
