You will be able to exchange this from 16:00 at one of the following:

  • The Stag’s
  • The Bridge
  • One of the two outside bars

Complimentary drinks are limited to one per person. There are a limited number of drinks available, so to avoid disappointment, please collect yours as soon as you can after 16:00.

Please note that, due to the high number of expected guests, children are not permitted to attend this event. So that everyone has a chance to enjoy the festive decorations, there will be a separate families day celebration held on 12 December.

Our Family Christmas event will take place between 16:00 – 18:00 on Monday 12 December. Specifically aimed at families with children under 12, we will be welcoming Santa to campus as well as a variety of children’s entertainers. A wonderful fireworks display will close the show.

In previous years, people have sometimes questioned the energy efficiency of the Christmas lights, and whether the University should continue this annual event.

Although the lights will be in place throughout the festive season, they will be on timers that switch them on and off, ensuring they are only on when people are around. The bulbs are all modern, highly energy efficient ‘LED’ type bulbs. The net result is that they have a surprisingly small environmental impact when compared with the pleasure and joy they bring.

The Energy Management Team have carried out some measurements and calculations that show the total amount of electricity used is no more than one typical electric heater – a total of  less than 750 units of electricity over the whole festive season.

If anyone would like to receive a copy of the calculations, please email [email protected].
