Staff and students are invited to attend the World Aids Day Concert and Fundraiser, taking place from 17:30 – 19:00 on 1 December, Andrews Building Concourse, Southampton Solent University.
This event has been organised by the Solent University LGBT Staff Network.
Featuring the Southampton Gay Men’s Chorus, this is an opportunity for you to show support for those living with HIV/AIDS, to remember those we have lost and help raise funds for local HIV charity, Positive Action.
Mince pies and drinks will be served before the concert.
Andy Cast, Chair of the University of Southampton’s LGBT+ Staff Network commented:
There have been some amazing scientific advances in both the treatment and prevention of HIV over the last few years, but the virus continues to affect the lives of millions Worldwide.
Much like other critical illnesses, HIV doesn’t discriminate. Therefore, I would like to invite you to join the LGBT+ Staff Network at this concert, which will raise much needed funds for the charity Positive Action, allowing them to provide emotional and practical support for those affected by HIV in Hampshire.
There are also boxes of red ribbons on sale at reception in Building 37 and on the bar at the Staff Club (both Highfield Campus) for anyone who would like to show their support for HIV research and care.
