Last few days: Christmas present and food donations for charity

Donated Christmas gifts being sorted before they are wrapped.

This Christmas, groups of staff are working to support the Christmas Complete 2016 project, run by Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship (S.C.R.A.T.C.H.) as well as the Southampton City Mission food bank.

For Christmas Complete, donations of toys and gifts suitable for babies, children and young people up to the age of 17 years are being sought (deadline Friday 9 December).

The sorts of things the project needs are:

  • Art and craft items (including colouring books, pencils and felt tip pens)
  • Books
  • Games and puzzles
  • Gift Vouchers
  • Age related toys (please no guns or war related items)
  • Sweets and chocolates
  • Toiletries and other items suitable for teenagers (there is always a shortage of items for teenagers)

Please do not wrap the gifts as this will be done later.

For Southampton City Mission food bank, donations of the following types of non-perishable foods are being sought (deadline Wednesday 7 December):

  • Chunky soups
  • Treats (Crisps, Chocolate, biscuits, crackers, seasonal foods)
  • Tinned meals (curry / Irish stew / chilli / macaroni cheese)
  • Vegetarian foods
  • Tinned fish
  • Tinned fruit / desserts
