Initial Teacher Education Health and Wellbeing Conference 9 December

National health education experts will address trainee teachers, local teachers and University personnel at the Health and Wellbeing Conference organised by Southampton Education School on Friday 9 December 2016.

The day will be opened at 08:50 by Professor Mark Hanson, British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiovascular Science at the University, and will be followed by keynote addresses by Rachel Bailey, PSHE and Wellbeing Advisor; Dr Debbie Chase, Consultant in Public Health, Southampton City Council; and Rachel Gooch, an early career teacher.

The day will run from 08:45 – 15:45 at the Southampton Education School, Highfield Campus.

Through their respective keynotes, speakers will highlight the importance of health and wellbeing in relation to good educational outcomes, and the key role teachers can play in promoting healthy lifestyles.

The day will also include interactive workshops facilitated by national and regional experts in health, as well as an exhibition of relevant materials and short activities, with tasty samples of healthy food being provided by Hampshire County Council Caterers.
