The Careers and Employability Service are dedicated to helping students consider their career options, develop employability skills and increase their experience, confidence and connections.
Students’ feedback helps to shape university services and, in turn, improves the student experience.
Find out how the Careers and Employability Service has acted on feedback this year:
- You said: Your preferred timings for employer events were 10:00 – 12:00, 14:00 – 16:00 or after 17:00.
- We did: This year, no employer events have or will take place over the lunchtime period.
- You said: Bring more governmental organisations, like the Civil Service, on campus to provide insight on their Fast Stream Assessment Process.
- We did: This year, the Careers and Employability Service facilitated the first session of its kind, entitled: ‘How to Tackle the Fast Stream Assessments’ in conjunction with Fast Streamer Ambassadors, as well as five other activities based on Civil Service Fast Stream.
- You said: Advertise on social media more.
- We did: We now use Facebook and Twitter to promote all employer events, and each activity has three scheduled tweets.
- You said: Remind students by email of events they have booked.
- We did: MyCareer now reminds all students about their booked events by email 24 hours in advance, as well as on the day.
- You said: Careers fairs should be held in one room with more space to move around exhibitors.
- We did: This year, the Jubilee Sports hall was used for the October fairs to enable students to meet with employers in one venue and provide more space.
- You said: Make workshop locations easier to find.
- We did: This term we have run over 100 events in the centrally located Careers Centre in Building 37.
