The 2016 Christmas Complete project at the University was extremely successful, generating enthusiasm and many donations from across the organisation.
Staff managed 11 different collection points at Avenue, Boldrewood, Guildhall Square, Highfield, NOCS and Southampton General Hospital.
The Union Southampton minibus dropped off 40 boxes and sacks of presents to Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship (S.C.R.A.T.C.H.) on Tuesday 13 December.
S.C.R.A.T.C.H., who run the Christmas Complete project, very much appreciate the University’s support and pass on their thanks.
Matt Wilkinson, Operations Manager, FareShare Southern Central at S.C.R.A.T.C.H, commented:
The support of University staff and students has been fabulous. The toys they donated will bring relief to the families S.C.R.A.T.C.H. works with, and joy and happiness to their children, who would otherwise have had nothing to open on Christmas morning.
Without the generous support of the University, we simply couldn’t provide gifts for so many disadvantaged children and young people in the city.
In 2016 the project was supported by a group of staff who made it accessible and convenient for staff and students to drop off donations at their respective campus.
In addition, food donations were also collected for Southampton City Mission food bank.
Staff and students donated a wide variety of food.
