Salisbury, Old Sarum & Wiltshire Landscapes on 21 January 2017, 10:00 – 16:00

The stunning sites and landscapes of Avebury, Stonehenge and Old Sarum in Wiltshire mark some of the most nationally important archaeological landscapes in Britain, and the focus of research over the course of the 20th century.  This study day will look at the importance of these different sites, their landscape  and how they changed through different periods.

Journeys in Film on 18 February 2017, 10:00 – 16:00

Film has, from its very first days, been a way of relaying images of travel and escape. From early travelogues in exotic lands to fantastical visions of imaginary worlds, cinema provides an invitation to explore distant realities, as well as to see the world around us anew. This study day will delve into the importance of journeying and how it is portrayed in genres like the road movie, sci-fi and fantasy, as well as documentary realism.
