Future Worlds takes best of British startups to Consumer Electronics Show 2017

Pioneering startup platform and incubator Future Worlds is showcasing British innovations as the UK’s only university exhibitor for a second year running at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from 5 8 January.

The University-based incubator, launched in 2015, returns to the world’s largest consumer electronics show with new high-tech products as it continues its ambitious journey to build a thriving UK startup culture. Visitors to Future Worlds at CES will experience the Sound Virtualiser, a groundbreaking new system that creates an immersive 3D audio from a single soundbar. The technology uses an attached camera to track the location of the viewer in the room, using destructive and constructive sound cancellation to deliver a perfect 3D experience.

Guests will also sample the SharkStream motion capture system, which uses inertial sensors and fusion algorithms to capture movements in real time and render them live in 3D animation software.

Future Worlds Director Dr Reuben Wilcock said:

Growing a thriving startup culture is the best way to help leading innovators change the world with their ideas and Future Worlds is making this happen. We have supported over 60 University entrepreneurs in our first year, who have raised more than £2m between them towards their business ideas. We can’t wait to bring these groundbreaking ideas to a global audience at the Consumer Electronics Show.

From creating pitch videos to offering advice and introductions to a global network of mentors, Future Worlds is helping at every step of an entrepreneur’s journey.

It has supported startups ranging from implantable medical devices to consumer electronics. Its impressive range of over 40 highly-respected mentors and investors include directors of Apple and Salesforce as well as entrepreneurs who have founded billion dollar companies.
