Director of NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies asks “What is climate science good for”?

Dr Gavin Schmidt, Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, is at the University this month to participate in meetings and events that focus on the science of climate change.

Dr Gavin Schmidt

Today, Thursday 12 January, Dr Schmidt will deliver a public lecture entitled: ‘What is climate science good for?’

Dr Schmidt will argue that despite increased certainty that humans are responsible for recent global warming, avoiding the worst impacts requires a much deeper connection between policy-making and science.

Dr Schmidt’s lecture launches a series of events that will showcase the University’s teaching, research and engagement on climate change and sustainability science.

The lecture is fully booked but you can watch it live from 19:00 on Thursday 12 January via this link on Livestream. If you are unable to watch at 19:00, you can use the same link to watch a recording of the event afterwards.
