Free Union events to help you relax and revise

We understand that January can be a tough time for students. Whether you’re studying for a thesis, completing hand-ins, about to go on placement or doing your exams, things can get a little stressful.

With this in mind, the Union is holding a series of free events and activities to help you relax and remind you that #YouAreMoreThan your studies.

Study spaces

If you would like a quiet space to study or a change of scenery from the library, you can use the Unions’ Meeting Rooms 2 and 3 between 09:00 – 17:00 on Sunday 15 JanuaryFriday 27 January. Ask at Reception in the Concourse if you are unsure of where to find these rooms.

Chill out spaces

Take some time to relax and unwind with a boxset on the bean bags in the Concourse between Sunday 15 January Friday 27 January. This space will be reserved during the usual Union office hours, which you can find here.

Fitness classes

A healthy body means a healthy mind. Power up and energise on endorphins with a workout at the Jubilee Sports Hall.

  • Monday 16 January – Relax and Refresh 14:00 – 14:30 and 14:30 – 15:00.
  • Wednesday 18 January – Relax and Refresh 10:00 – 10:30 and 10:30 – 11:00.
  • Friday 20 January – Relax and Refresh 14:00 – 14:30 and 14:30 – 15:00.
  • Monday 23 January – Relax and Refresh 14:00 – 14:30 and 14:30 – 15:00.
  • Wednesday 25 January – Relax and Refresh 10:00 – 10:30 and 10:30 – 11:00.
  • Friday 27 January – Relax and Refresh 14:00 – 14:30 and 14:30 – 15:00.

Meditation classes

Take a deep breath and begin to clear the stress from your mind in Building 35, Room 1001.

  • Wednesday 18 January from 15:00 – 16:00.
  • Wednesday 25 January from 15:00 – 16:00.

Researchers’ Café: Mental Health, Wellbeing and Stress

Listen to the researchers discuss mental health, wellbeing and stress on Monday 16 January from 18:30 at The Bridge. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee as you get the chance to challenge theories and ask questions. Join the Facebook event here.
