It is with great sadness that we inform staff and students of the untimely passing of Dr Borislav Dimitrov, Associate Professor of Medical Statistics in the Faculty of Medicine.
Borislav trained in Medicine and Public Health in Bulgaria and then in Medical Statistics, working for several years as a researcher in Italy and Dublin before joining the University in 2012.
Passionate about medical research, Borislav was a great collaborator, working with colleagues from across the University, the local NHS and internationally. He was renowned for his expertise on time series analysis and prediction models, and was fluent in several languages. He was also a pillar of Southampton’s Bulgarian community.
Following a short critical illness, Borislav passed away on the evening of Sunday 15 January 2017.
Borislav was an excellent researcher and teacher, but above all he was a kind and generous man. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday 1 February 14:30 for 14:45 at Southampton Crematorium.
Our thoughts go out to his family and close friends at this very sad time.
