The Researchers’ Café enables students, staff and the public to meet researchers and discuss topical issues in an informal space.
The next Researchers’ Café will take place on Monday 27 February from 12:00 – 13:30 in the Observatory, Building 85 (Life Sciences Building). This event is part of the University’s Diversity Fortnight programme.
The format of this event will be as follows:
12:00 Welcome (free tea and coffee served)
12:10 Keynote: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the University strategy, by Vice-President (International), Professor Colin Grant
12:25 1st discussion session – choose from the three topics brought up in the keynote and discuss
12:55 Break and further tea and coffee served
13:00 2nd discussion session – choose one of the other topics brought up in the keynote and discuss
The topics discussed will include:
- Unconscious bias: a get out of jail free card? With Alex Melhuish from the University’s Diversity Team.
- Gender identity and gender journeys, with Joy Richardson.
- International students: English and other challenges, with Jill Doubleday.
