Update on the University’s new travel management company

The process to select a suitable travel management company (TMC) to provide travel and accommodation booking services to the University is now at the invitation to tender (ITT) stage. This means that details of our requirements for this service have been released to potential suppliers and we are awaiting their responses for analysis.

The University is a member of the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC), an organisation that gives us access to a range of quality, EU compliant agreements with suppliers for a range of goods and services.

The University Executive Board (UEB) has approved the decision to choose a supplier from the SUPC’s travel management company framework. This means that the companies we are selecting from have already demonstrated that they meet a number of quality requirements for the higher education sector, providing us with reassurance and a faster selection process. The ITT is being sent only to the providers on this framework.

A group of people from across the Faculties and Professional Services will be involved in selecting the supplier, through assessment of applications from interested parties and meetings with those suppliers to ask further questions. In order to enable all Faculties to participate, all Associate Deans (Internationalisation) will be invited to the supplier presentations.

The TMC project team will continue to provide updates via SUSSED and local faculty communication channels. There is also now a project webpage, which includes FAQs that provide more detailed information on the project itself, as well as why we are choosing a TMC for the University.
