Over 180 people running in aid of the Centre for Cancer Immunology

The University campaign team is delighted that over 180 people have signed up to run the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k on 23 April, in aid of the Centre for Cancer Immunology. The runners include 60 staff from across the faculties and 56 students (many of whom are pictured below), as well as members of the alumni and local communities.

Last year, 30 runners collectively raised over £9,500. Building on this success, the team are pleased to be the Lead Local Charity for the event this year, increasing the number of running places as well as their presence on the event day. With such a fantastic response to their charity places, the campaign team hope to raise another significant amount this year.

Professor Tim Elliott, Director for the new Centre for Cancer Immunology, who is also planning to run the Half Marathon, said:

It is wonderful to see such support for the campaign from both staff and students all around the University.  The construction of the Centre is well underway but we still need another £4.5m towards our fundraising target to make it a reality. All contributions make a real difference and we are so grateful to all those running for the campaign.
