On Saturday 25 March, Turner Sims Southampton will be embarking on their latest musical marathon for Comic Relief.
Following the success of the Haydathon in 2009 and the Beethovathon in 2015, local conductors and University alumni Craig Lawton and Paul Ingram return with the Orchestral Decathlon.

Hand-picked musicians from across the south will join forces to perform three concerts in one day. The event will run in tandem with Red Nose Day 2017, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
Speaking of his and Paul Ingram’s involvement with the project, Craig Lawton commented:
We are both thrilled to be returning to Turner Sims Southampton for the third musical marathon supporting Comic Relief. These concerts are suitable for all ages and tastes, are fun and engaging to listen and watch.
Since its launch in 1988, Red Nose Day has become something of a British institution. It’s the day, every two years, when people across the land can get together and do something funny for money.
With concerts taking place at 14:00, 16:45 and 19:30 on Saturday 25 March, staff and students are invited to choose their favourite symphonies to attend, or experience all three and enjoy listening to ten different composers in one day!
