Online Store wins industry award for best overall service

The University’s Online Store has been awarded the ‘Mystery Shopper’ award by WPM Education for its user friendly functionality, product delivery and packaging.

WPM Education provides the higher and further education sectors with online payment solutions. Southampton’s Online Store competed for the award against other major universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

There are currently in excess of 350 products on the Online Store, ranging from replacement ID cards, to places at conferences and events. In the current academic year, there have been over 15,000 purchases totalling just over £1.3m.

Dave Lund Yates, Deputy Head of Income accepted the award on behalf of his team. He described how the Online Store supports the University strategy:

The Store strengthens our reputation by improving the delivery of our products and services. It has also made savings for the University. Since installing the store, we have processed in excess of 96,000 transactions totalling £9.4m. This feeds into the 10-Year Plan levers of Quality and Financial Sustainability.

The 10-Year Plan is about making our processes and systems easy to use. This has obviously been borne out by the fact that we have received this award twice in the last 3 years.
