WiSET Award winners

Kizanne James from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Angeles Camacho from the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering have both received this year’s Women in Science Engineering and Technology (WiSET) Award.

The award, which recognises the exceptional contributions of individuals across the University who have worked to raise the profile and participation of women in STEMM subjects, received nominations from a wide range of faculties and individuals.

Due to the high quality of those who were nominated, the WiSET steering group found it difficult to choose overall winners from such a strong group.

Both Kizanne and Angeles were honoured at an award ceremony on 22 March 2017, following the Annual WiSET Campbell Lecture.

Wanting to celebrate the achievements of all this year’s nominees, the WiSET group will be organising a special lunch later in the academic year.

Dr Su White, chair of WiSET, commented:

To all the nominees, we offer our heartfelt congratulations – each of you, in your own way is definitely making a difference.

Similarly, to each of those who identified and nominated or seconded a candidate, thank you, and please spread the word about the real impact people are making to address gender diversity on campus at the University and beyond to the wider STEMM community.
