The government confirmed on Friday, 21 April 2017 that EU students will continue to remain eligible for undergraduate, master’s, postgraduate and advanced learner financial support in the next academic year 2018 to 2019.
This decision means that EU students applying for an undergraduate or master’s course at an English university or further education institution in the 2018 to 2019 academic year will continue to have access to student loans and grants, even if the course concludes after the UK’s exit from the EU.
Colin Grant, Vice-President (International) welcomed the news:
This is very good news for the University’s strong international ambitions and values, and also for our fellow Europeans who contribute so much to the institution and to the city of Southampton.
Along with our partner organisations, we will continue to lobby the Government to recognise the contribution of students, lecturers, researchers and professional services staff from across Europe.
