The success of the Business Innovation Programme, run by the Careers and Employability team, was recognised at the Association of Graduate Recruiter (AGR) awards held last month.
The AGR is a long-established network of professionals looking to maximise the development of emerging talent.
Each year, the AGR recognises outstanding examples of excellence in the graduate development industry. Higher Education institutions have two categories reserved and the University was a finalist in both.
The Business Innovation Programme is an opportunity for students of all subjects and years of study to work in teams on a client brief supplied by an external organisation. Students and employers have given brilliant feedback, with 479 students having undertaken 122 projects since the programme launched.
Head of Placements & Work Experience, Ann Cooper, said:
This AGR Development Award is for our Business Innovation Programme which provides students with opportunities to work together, building their confidence and enabling them to develop key skills such as leadership, teamwork and initiative. Students find this programme very attractive and often feed back that they have used the experience to support successful appointment into a graduate role.
We have had a number of awards successes in recent months from across a range of organisations directly linked to higher education and graduate recruitment. This is very positive for the University and clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the future employability of our students.
