Success for STEM students

Congratulations to seven Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students who have been successful in gaining a place on the highly competitive Huawei ‘Seeds for the Future’ Programme 2017.

Huawei is one of the world’s leading telecoms solutions providers with comprehensive strengths delivering fixed-line, wireless and IP technologies.

The students will be travelling to China in August for a four week, all-expenses paid trip. First of all, they’ll spend time learning Mandarin and seeing the sights of Beijing, before flying to Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen to receive technical training from some of the finest professionals in the industry.

Since 2011, Huawei have provided over 130 UK undergraduates with the opportunity to learn about China and to experience working in Huawei’s dynamic global business headquarters. This is a great achievement for the students and the Careers & Employability Service, who help facilitate the programme.

Only 50 students from universities across the UK and Republic of Ireland were successful, with the University filling over 10% of the places.

This opportunity was just one of the many available to students through Careers & Employability’s Excel Southampton Internships Programme. Click here to find out more.
