Lifelong Learning will be holding a study day on Saturday 6 May from 10:00 – 16:00 on the subject of Women and British Film.
During the day, key films by critically praised directors will be discussed in order to explore the role of women filmmakers in Britain (Mamma Mia, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, Bridget Jones’s Diary, directed by Sharon Maguire, and even Fifty Shades of Grey, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.)

In addition to filmmakers, women screenwriters, documentaries by women and British films by women immigrants will also be considered.
The day’s speakers will include Dr Shelley Cobb (Associate Professor in English and Film), Professor Linda Ruth Williams (Professor of Film), Dr Natalie Wreyford (Research Fellow) and PhD candidates Ania Ostrowska and Sarah Smyth.
