Your wellbeing: Meningitis, know the signs and symptoms

You may have heard recent stories in the press or on social media about a case of meningitis at another English university. Please be assured that there have been no such occurrences at the University of Southampton. However, being aware of what to look out for can help detect and prevent the spread of diseases such as meningitis.

Please click here to view details of the signs and symptoms. If you or someone you know appears to be experiencing a combination of some or all of the symptoms, please contact 111 to get immediate medical advice.

New university students are advised to have a free Men ACWY vaccination if they haven’t already had it at school. Please click here to find out more about the Men ACWY vaccine.

Please contact your doctor to arrange the vaccination, which you are entitled to up to the age of 25. If you are not currently registered with a local GP, please visit the University’s Health Service webpages for information on how to register with the on campus health service.
