Exam season can be a stressful enough time without having to worry about finding study spaces.
To make life a little easier, in collaboration with Union Southampton, the Library team and Residential Services, we’ve compiled a list of links directing you to the numerous study spaces available across our campuses and halls. You’ll also find some hints and tips from the Student Communications team about alternative spaces to revise in, in case you’d like a change of scenery.

Alternatives
Changing up the locations you revise in could be beneficial, especially if you’re the type of person who finds that revising at home leaves you eyeing up opportunities for procrastination, or spending extended hours in the library makes you long for time outside.
Knowing the conditions you need in order to concentrate is essential; if you find noise and conversation distracting, coffee shops should be avoided but green spaces such as parks could be an option. If the weather is good, why not take your revision outside one afternoon? Discover Southampton has a list of parks and open spaces within the city. If lovely views inspire you, the café at NOCS (closed on weekends) overlooks the water and offers student discounts on food.
Managing your time
Learning to manage your time is an important skill for any student.
Set yourself a specific time or number of hours for revision, and stick to it (yes, we mean stepping away from social media!). By studying for defined portions of the day without interruption, you’ll value and enjoy your free time more, without the sense that time is slipping away from you in the run up to exams.
As one third year student commented in our October 2016 competition where we asked continuing students for their best advice:
Motivation isn’t something you’re born either having or not having, it’s just a case of training up your focus 🙂
Safety
