The University of Southampton has ranked 35th in the 2018 Guardian University Guide published this week.
The Guide, which is entirely focused on undergraduate study, features 121 institutions this year. Rankings are based around the familiar criteria of entry tariffs, student satisfaction, graduate prospects, student-staff ratio and university spend per student. It also provides an overall ‘value added’ score (out of 10).
Unlike other rankings, the Guide places a greater emphasis on its subject tables to inform each institution’s overall ranking.
For 2018, Southampton features in the top five across six subjects including Electrical & Electronic and Civil Engineering where the University places second in both areas. The University is also placed seventh in Education, ninth in Health Professions and Media & Film Studies, and tenth in Philosophy.
